Antonio Conte brushed aside reports claiming a £90 million transfer of winger Eden Hazard to Manchester United.
The Belgian international was rumoured to join Manchester United, who are on a lookout for a boost in their attack. Jose Mourinho had apparently set his eyes on Hazard, who has lit up the Premier League ever since his arrival from Lille in 2012.
The 26-year-old recently rejected a lucrative £300,000 a week contract, which triggered speculations of the winger looking for a new club.
Real Madrid are in the lead to sign Hazard in exchange, in a potential swap deal involving Welsh international, Gareth Bale.
Ahead of Chelsea’s clash against a resurgent Everton, Conte clarified the media about the current situation by saying:
“A difficult period is starting for every club and coach because there are a lot of rumours, some are true and some are wrong, We must be ready to face this situation. The best way for me is don’t read [the reports] and only chat with the club and then try to improve our squad if this is possible.”
Conte says there are a lot of rumours at this time of year and he prefers not to pay attention to them. He says his players must be focused on the football during this busy period.

Conte also asserted that focus should be more on the games rather than transfer rumours, he added:
“We must be ready to face these rumours but at the same time focus to play and go game by game because we have to play every three days and it’s not right for these rumours to disturb us.”
Conte on Chelsea’s transfer business in January
Conte chose to not divulge much on the Blues’ transfer plans in the January transfer window. He said:
“I prefer to talk with the club, to try and find the best solution together,” he said. “If there is the possibility to improve the squad I think it will be a good choice.”
Conte concluded by stating that he is happy with the current set of players and the club will definitely look to strengthen some areas with some transfers. He said:
“I’m enjoying being with these players and I’m ready to continue to play with all these players. At the same time if there is the possibility to improve our squad I think the club will try to do this.”
Hazard staying at Stamford Bridge is crucial for the Blues who are going through a wobble this season. Several players are speculated to leave Chelsea including the likes of Courtois and David Luiz.
It is important that Chelsea keep hold of the players anyhow if they have to survive this season.
