Antonio Conte feels unbeatable Manchester City are eclipsing Chelsea’s current form

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has praised Chelsea’s current run as they attempt to catch the Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Ever since their shock away defeat to the misfiring Crystal Palace, the Blues have enjoyed a good run in the Premier League. Chelsea have shown excellent character to snatch 25 points in the last 10 games. Chelsea recorded a string of victories since their defeat to the Eagles, which included a crucial win over Manchester United. However, they could only salvage a draw against Liverpool and were defeated by West Ham recently.

Despite this good run, Chelsea find themselves 14 points from the top as Manchester City breezed past Tottenham Hotspur to stretch their unbeaten run. Conte has stated that he is satisfied with the team’s performance as of late and expects a similar run from the team as they head into the festive period of the season. He said:

“I want to remember that in the last 10 games, we won eight games, drew only one game against Liverpool away and lost only one game, at West Ham,”

Conte highlighted the current unbeaten run of Manchester City who currently holds a 16 match unbeaten streak in the Premier League. “If someone asks me if I want to sign for this in the next 10 games, I’m ready. Someone is forgetting this run because there is a team winning every game  [Manchester City]…”, the Italian continued.

Author’s Take

Chelsea’s run in the Premier League this season is lacking consistency, something which was instrumental in the Blues title win last season. Chelsea won 13 games on the trot in the previous season. This season has been marred by occasional defeats and draws against the likes of Burnley, Arsenal, Liverpool and West Ham United to name a few. With a jam-packed schedule coming up and a highly challenging knockout fixture against Barcelona, Chelsea would hope that they are able to maintain this good run of late.
