Real Madrid is looking to push through a January move for Mauro Icardi with the player expected to undergo a medical this month.
Real Madrid has been short of goals this season in La Liga. Amid Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema’s woeful form along with Gareth Bale’s lack of fitness; Madrid finds themselves 4th in La Liga. Florentino Perez was looking for a summer revolution but it seems like Christmas has come early for Los Blancos. Mauro Icardi is reportedly on his way to Real Madrid from Inter Milan in a deal worth £81 million
According to reports from Spanish radio programme El Chiringuito de Jugones, the 24-year-old Argentine striker Mauro Icardi is on his way to Santiago Bernabeu. As per reputed journalist Pipi Estrada, Icardi will undergo a medical in December before completing the transfer next month.

Details of the contract
It is being reported that Real Madrid has agreed to a £81 million deal with Inter. Although the entire fee would not be paid upfront. Real would pay £70.5 million up front, the rest £10.5 million would be paid in bonuses. El Chiringuito de Jugones also revealed the 24-year-old’s salary if and when he moves to the Bernabeu. The player will be earning £7.94 million a year, along with this he will also pocket 30% of his image rights.
This can be roughly estimated to a contract worth £152,000 before tax.
The chances of this move going through are slim to none, especially in January. While Icardi is an incredible striker having already scored 16 goals in 15 Serie A appearances; he is not Madrid’s first priority. Perez has his eyes fixed on Harry Kane and Neymar as he looks to revamp Madrid’s forward line in the near future.
Moreover, Icardi reiterated his wish to stay in San Siro on Monday. He said, “Real Madrid? My family are happy in Italy. We’re first and I’m top. What more could I ask for?” Even if Madrid manage to convince Icardi to switch Black and Blue of Inter for All White of Real he will not come that cheap. As Mauro Icardi’s wife and agent put it in no subtle terms that her client is worth “At least €200 million”
It is highly improbable that move will go through. If it does, it will be the biggest story to come out of January’s transfer window. A summer deal, however, seems much more likely.
