Premier League giants Arsenal have now once again failed at signing yet another player this summer, as things are not looking good for Arsene Wenger’s side. With Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy earlier snubbing the Gunners, it seemed that the north London outfit were looking to add Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette to their current squad this summer, as they tried to get a £45m deal sorted as soon as possible.
The 25-year-old superstar, who was dropped from the French national team for the Euro 2016 tournament, was superb in the previous season and had a tally of 23 goals in all competitions, which caught the attention of a host of clubs across Europe.
Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas admitted that there is interest from England for their forward, though he stated that both his manager Bruno Genesio and the player want the attacker to stay back.
He spoke in his interview about the star’s future and said that, “We had a few calls, but he will stay with us. The coach wishes to rely on him. And I also feel he wants to stay.”
Wenger wants the right kind of player who can complement Olivier Giroud in attack and will look to add such a player to his squad, before the new season begins, with a move for the Frenchman still very much on the cards.
Lacazette played 173 Ligue 1 games, with 72 times to his name, since his debut for the senior side back in 2010 and could be a huge asset for the Londoners in the near future.
