Barcelona President Josep Bartomeu talks about the club’s new signing

Josep Bartomeu was very happy with the Columbian fans who showed up at Yerry Mina’s presentation at the Camp Nou.

The President has also promised to increase the Barcelona fan base in the South American country. The Catalan President is over the moon right now with the high-profile signings and club’s current performance. The Camp Nou outfit are unbeaten in Spain and Europe this season. The board has also signed two new players in the current transfer window.

Bartomeu all smiles at the Contract Signings:

Bartomeu was very happy at the contract signing of the Columbian defender Yerry Mina and expressed his delight about bringing him to Barcelona. “We have followed his progress for a while. We planned to sign him this summer, but we have brought the move forward a few months.” Said the President. “It’s a big step for him, a young player with a lot of talent and a long road ahead of him, which we hope is here with us.”

The Catalan President was also delighted with the 8000 fans who were present at the Camp Nou for Mina’s presentation. Most of the fans were Columbian, present to celebrate the arrival of the first-ever Columbian player at the club. “He is the first Colombian to play for the first team and he should be proud about that, as should his country. We’re going to try and turn Colombian Blaugrana. Hopefully, Barcelona’s successes will also be a reason for pride in Colombia.”

The fortunes have changed for the President in the period of six-month. Former President Agustí Benedito tried to start the referendum against Bartomeu in September after the President could not convince Neymar to stay at the club. The club was also in trouble as they lost to Real Madrid in Spanish Super Cup. But Bartomeu has worked really well in this transfer window, signing Coutinho and Mina while offloading the likes of Arda Turan.

Author’s Take:

Bartomeu must be the happiest person in the world right now. He has done some really great business to bring new players to the club. And he is not wrong about the Columbia as well. South American countries have always had a great relationship with Barcelona and with Mina, another one might be added to the list.
