Days after reports emerged that Barcelona has accepted a deal to bring the Brazilian midfielder Arthur from Gremio, Arthur himself has confirmed that there has been no official offer from the club.
Gremio’s President Romildo Bolzan, in an interview before the Club World Cup final against the Spanish club Real Madrid on Saturday. Further, in the following interview, the midfielder was asked on his photo where he posed in a Barcelona jersey.
“Yes, for me too. I was surprised because they knew I was coming to lunch, but I ended up only with a Barcelona board member who I didn’t even know. It was a strange situation, oversight, a scene in which they put the player there inadvertently.” said Arthur.
The midfielder has his say:
However, it is evident that Barcelona has shown their interest to sign Arthur from the Brazilian club Gremio. Barcelona, through this signing, would strengthen their midfielder which already has the likes of latest signings Andre Gomes and Denis Suarez.
The midfielder said that “They gave me a Barcelona shirt in the middle of the meal, who doesn’t want a Barcelona shirt? They made the first contact with my agent; I have nothing to hide from Gremio”
Arthur Melo: "Every player dreams of playing for Barcelona. I have a contract with the Grëmio, but if a proposal comes and Grëmio accepts, I will be at Barcelona in January." pic.twitter.com/yKS8xBqsoo

The 21-year-old has become a sensation in the domestic circuits back in Brazil. The deep-lying playmaker resembles the playing style of Barcelona’s Andres Iniesta, which makes him a perfect contender to replace the ageing midfielder. Neither Arthur nor his agent, Jorge Machado, have signed any agreement with the Blaugrana until this moment.
While it is no doubt that the midfielder has all the potential to succeed at Camp Nou, there hasn’t been an official bid from the Spanish club Barcelona. However, if Robert Fernandez’s meeting with Arthur were fruitful, then it would be only days before we would see the Gremio midfielder in a Blaugrana jersey.
If Barcelona gets the midfielder, they will add depth to their already strong midfield with the abilities of the Brazilian.
