Jose Mourinho offers 5-year-deal to Real Madrid youngster

Jose Mourinho wants to sign Real Madrid starlet Marco Asensio next summer.

The Portuguese looks set to continue his spending spree for the third straight summer. After buying Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku in successive summers, Mourinho now has his eyes set on Marco Asensio. The Spanish starlet is one of the biggest talents in world football.

Spanish outlet Don Balon claims that a five-year-deal is already on the table for the 21-year-old. Mourinho sees Asensio as a key figure in his Champions League winning squad of the future. He is ready to break the bank Asensio’s signature and offer wages of somewhere in the region of £24 million per season.

Marco Asensio: Why is he such a hot property?

Marco Asensio is easily the next big thing in world football, and with the way he has been playing off late, Real Madrid has uncovered a gem. With exceptional dribbling and passing, the 21-year-old has a wand of a left foot that strikes fear into the heart of his opponents. Brought in for less than €4 million from Mallorca, Asensio could very well turn out to be the bargain of the century.

The young Spaniard always has a “Golazo” under his sleeve and can produce extraordinary feats in a moments notice. His output is also incredible for a 21-year old who doesn’t necessarily start for his club every week. He was directly involved in a goal every 77 minutes last season.

Touted for a Ballon d’Or in the future, his team-mates try their best to keep his feet on the ground. His compatriot Isco told Movistar “He has great potential and a massive future in the game, he has a prodigious left foot, one that practically no other player has.”

“We just have to let him keep improving with calmness and not allow his head to be filled with little birds. People are talking about how they think he is going to win the Ballon d’Or but we don’t talk about that and don’t think about winning that. All that we can do is work hard and try to get better every day.”

Author’s Take

Can the move go through? Theoretically, it can. However, there has historically been bad blood between United and Madrid. This is a mega-money deal we are talking about. A lot of pieces need to fall in just the right place for it to go through. One thing for sure is that there will be an astronomical fee involved and the Spaniard might even become the most expensive player in the world.

The other big factor is the presence of David De Gea and Marcus Rashford. Real Madrid’s interest in the duo is well documented, but Jose Mourinho is open to a swap deal with Asensio going to Old Trafford and Rashford moving the other way.
