Liverpool could offer Daniel Sturridge along with cash as a part of deal to bring in Steven N’Zonzi from Sevilla
Daniel Sturridge has had a tough time this season. Despite being the most natural finisher in the squad, Sturridge has played just 496 minutes of football for the Reds. He is certainly not in an ideal situation just 6 months ahead of the 2018 World Cup. Liverpool, however, has fared well enough in Sturridge’s absence. They currently sit 4th in the Premier League and will qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League should they avoid defeat against Spartak Moscow.
Mirror is reporting that Sturridge can be used as a makeweight in a deal to bring in French midfielder Steven N’Zonzi from Sevilla. The former Stoke City player has fallen out with Sevilla manager Eduardo Berizzo and admitted that his future lies away from the club.
N’Zonzi told France Football, “Clearly my future is away from Sevilla.”
“I’m not bitter towards him [Berizzo]. I’m not here to argue with him, but his words affected me. From that point, our relationship broke down. I’m not going to repeat what he said to me. But after, in public, he said that he would only count on players who shared his footballing vision. What does he mean by that?”
He continued, “A player must always adapt themselves to what the coach asks of them, and I’ve always done that. I think my situation is unfair.”
The player was even spotted in London with reports stating that he was there to further transfer talks with an English club.

Up until this point, Arsenal has been the frontrunners for the 28-year-old’s signature. Arsene Wenger has long been an admirer of the tall, burly Frenchman. However, the fact that Liverpool might be willing to offer Sturridge might turn the tide in their favour. El Gol claims that Sevilla could be interested in bringing Sturridge to Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.
Daniel Sturridge needs to move away from Liverpool to have even an ounce of hope of making it to the World Cup in Russia. His current status doesn’t merit a place in England’s squad. While he may be apprehensive about moving to a new league at this point; this might ultimately be his last option to secure regular game time. Steven N’Zonzi, on the other hand, will move to another club in January. It is only a matter of where; the 28-year-old has plenty of suitors. Liverpool would do well to secure his signatures with Emre Can seemingly on his way to Juventus.
