On-loan Chelsea youngster Tammy Abraham explains how Manchester United duo of Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard have helped & inspired him.
The 20-year-old Chelsea youngster is determined this season to cement his position in the national team as well as in Chelsea. Abraham has netted four goals with one assist in his 11 appearances in the Premier League this season. And his performances earned him his first England senior call-up.
England coach Gareth Southgate has evidently shown a lot of faith in the youngster by giving him a start in England’s recent games against Germany.
During the international duty, Abraham revealed how lads like Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard maintain the positivity in the dressing room and help youngsters like him with their transition.
“The lads are very bubbly and when you look at players like Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard, you can see that they’re confident lads and it gives you that nice belief in yourself as well when you get to play with top talented players like that,” Abraham told his pre-match media conference.
Abraham’s performances have raised question marks over Chelsea management. During his loan spell at Bristol City, his impressive stats included 23 goals in 41 appearances in the Championship. Now the question that arises is whether sending Abraham to loan was a good decision by Chelsea considering their injury woes.
Even though Abraham was impressive in the Championship, it would be too early to question Chelsea’s decision of sending him to loan. He’s only 20 and what he needs at this moment is as many minutes as possible. He’s playing first-team football on the constant basis in arguably one of the most competitive leagues in the world and that is probably what he needs at this moment rather than warming the bench at the Stamford Bridge.
