THOMAS LEMAR has set his sights on a move to the Emirates and cannot wait to work under Arsene Wenger.
The Deal is done, announcement to be made after Arsenal tour – major claim
Lemar to Arsenal is a done deal, reports claim. Player has agreed to personal terms.
But, Monte Carlo club are threatening to block a £45m move because they fear they are losing too many players.
Two Arsenal bids have been turned down by Monaco for Lemar, who do not want to lose any more players ahead of the season, but Wenger is not giving up hope on a deal for the sensational winger.
The Gunners have also been linked heavily with Lemar’s teammate Kylian Mbappe over the summer. Reports say, Arsenal have given up on Mbappe and shifted their attention totally to Lemar.
Thomas Lemar wants to work with Arsene Wenger and is reportedly ready for a bust-up with the Monaco board.
Monaco don’t want to sell Lemar:
AS Monaco have sold midfielder Bernardo Silva, 22, to Manchester City for £43.5m and also look like losing left-back Benjamin Mendy, also to Pep Guardiola’s club.
In addition, midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, 22, has left for a £40m move to Chelsea.
All these moves have left the Monaco board with no choice but to block the move for Lemar. This has left the France international hugely frustrated.
Lemar to Arsenal: Is the deal done?
And according to Emanuele Giulianelli, writing for Tribal Football, the Gunners have agreed to a deal with Monaco for the 21-year-old. They say the deal is done and Arsenal will pay £48m plus add-ons for Lemar.
Giulianelli adds that Monaco originally wanted £53m but the Gunners have slightly reduced the Ligue 1 champions’ asking price.
An official announcement is expected when Arsenal return from their pre-season tour of Australia and China.
Giulianelli says Monaco have asked the Premier League giants to delay the announcement – including the medical and official photos – until they find a replacement for Lemar.
Where will Lemar play?
If Sanchez does leave this summer, Lemar can replace him up front and pair with Lacazette, with Ozil in #10 position
