Mourinho speaking at UEFA Super Cup press conference in Skopje has confirmed United’s interest in the Real forward
Jose Mourinho has revealed he will “fight” for Gareth Bale IF the Welsh superstar is not wanted by Real Madrid.
Manchester United have been linked with Gareth Bale for a long time now since he has fallen down the pecking order at Los Blancos.
United face Real in the UEFA Super Cup tomorrow, with Mourinho claiming he will know if Bale is wanted if he makes Zidane’s starting line-up in Skopje.
Zidane is very interested in signing fellow Frenchman Kylian Mbappe from Monaco. This move will surely leave Bale vulnerable for a spot in the starting XI and possibility for a move may arise.

Mourinho on Bale
The Portuguese manager was asked whether he has considered Bale, he responded: “Well if he’s playing tomorrow, no I wouldn’t think that it would be because he’s in the coach’s plans and the club’s plans, because he also has that motivation to continue at Real Madrid.
Jose Mourinho will move for him if he doesn’t play tomorrow meaning he isn’t needed by Real.
“So I haven’t even thought about the possibility. If he is not in the club’s plans, that with the arrival of another player would mean he was on his way out, I will try to be waiting for him on the other side and fight with other coaches that would want him on their team.
“But if he plays tomorrow, that is the best confirmation that he is still wanted by the team.”
Mourinho gave an update on the team news confirming the various absentees. Eric Bailly is suspended for the clash after his red card in last season’s Europa League final. Phil Jones is also out of the game due to a UEFA punishment.
“No Phil Jones, no Eric Bailly, no Tim Fosu-Mensah because he is probably going on loan to another club. The injuries are the long-term ones you all know – Luke Shaw, Ashley Young, Marcos Rojo. Apart from that, everyone is available. Obviously, Matic is available but not like the others.”
