Tiemoue Bakayoko remains disappointed
Speaking to Canal+ about Deschamps not selecting him, Bakayoko spoke about how ‘disappointed’ he was with his national team manager’s decision. Nonetheless, he insisted that he believes in the upcoming World Cup in Russia and that it remains his ‘goal’.
Speaking about the snub, Bakayoko said,”‘I play in a big club, I think it can play in my favour.”
Bakayoko spoke about the players who were selected and said,”‘I think [Adrien] Rabiot, Kante, [Blaise] Matuidi, [Corentin] Tolisso are no better than me. I respect the choices of the coach and I also respect the selected players, they are talented, they are friends.”
He further said,“I am proud that they are selected, I would like to be with them. But I’m not worse than them.”
All facts into consideration, Kante is far better than Bakayoko by any measure. The Frenchman won back to back Premier League titles with Leicester City and last season with Chelsea and has been adding to his reputation ever since. His successes has attracted interest in him from all over Europe, however, he has chosen to stay with the Blues and with Antonio Conte.
Since arriving in the summer, Tiemoue Bakayoko has made 15 appearances in all competitions and has scored twice already for the Blues as he aims to nail down a first team place, following the departure of Nemanja Matic to Manchester United.
Chelsea fans are not happy with Bakayoko’s comments about Kante. It is clear that the young midfielder still has a lot to learn about the Premier League and has to improve his game a lot before he can say he is equal to the PFA Players’ player of the year Kante. He will look to live up to that statement after the international break when Conte’s side face West Bromwich Albion.
