Premier League’s injured XI after International Break

After the International break, most of the Premier League teams will face injury blows. 

The squads of the Premier League’s elite clubs must be packed with stellar talent, but there will be a number of players who will miss the upcoming games due to the injury crisis.

The Injured XI:

1. Tom Heaton (GK)

The Burnley Goalkeeper Tom Heaton is suffering from a dislocated shoulder. He is one of the top goalkeepers in the league. He has had a surgery on a shoulder injury after sustaining in the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace in the last game for Burnley. Clarets boss Sean Dyche has said, ”It won’t be weeks, it will be a longer period” about Heaton’s absence. No return date is yet declared.

2. Benjamin Mendy (LB)

The Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy is currently a long-term injury concern as he has suffered a knee injury. He is currently in Barcelona receiving the finest treatment on the knee injury that has most likely ended his first season at his new club. The return date is expected to be around April 2018.

3. Shkodran Mustafi (CB)

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Arsenal will be without defender Shkodran Mustafi until after next International break. He is ruled out of Arsenal’s meeting with Watford due to a hamstring injury. Wenger hasn’t clearly spoken about his return date. He has picked up this injury while playing for Germany against Azerbaijan.

4. Vincent Kompany (CB)

Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany has been missing since the international break. He picked up a calf injury while playing for Belgium against Gibraltar. He was expected to be involved in the Crystal Palace clash but was given extra time to recover from the injury problem. His expected return date is October 14.

5. Seamus Coleman (RB)

Seamus Coleman, the Everton right-back suffered a horrific double leg fracture on International duty. He is expected to return to full training on the November 29th. Because of this horrific injury, he is gonna miss most of the season. Coleman had started 28 successive Everton games before the injury.

6. Sadio Mané (LW)

Sadio Mané is the latest player to pick up an injury on the International duty. He picked up an injury against Cape Verde in the Senegal’s world cup qualifying win. Liverpool star is suffering from a hamstring injury and his date of return has not yet been declared. This is going to be a huge blow for Liverpool.

7. N’Golo Kante (CM)

N’Golo Kante has dealt Chelsea a fresh injury blow as he looks set to miss the rest of the month with a hamstring injury. The extent of Kante’s injury will become clearer on Friday when Chelsea boss Antonio Conte speaks ahead of Crystal Palace game. The midfielder’s injury is a bad news for Chelsea.

8.  Paul Pogba (CM)

Jose Mourinho has described Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba’s hamstring injury as ‘long-term‘. Pogba came off just 19 minutes into the United’s Champions League opener against Basel. Mourinho was initially concerned with the 24-year-old’s injury, but he is recovering well.

9. Wilfried Zaha (RW)

 

The 24-year-old Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha is struggling with a knee injury since the opening day match of the season against Huddersfield Town. Although he has been back in training, he has not been fully recovered. But he seems closer to the Crystal Palace come back. His expected date of return is October 14.

10. Sergio Aguero (ST)

Sergio Aguero the Manchester City star striker suffered a fractured rib in a car crash and has been a big injury concern for the club. No return date for his comeback is yet declared, but he has given a major boost by returning to training just after 11 days. He took part in a light session with the club physios on Tuesday.

11. Alvaro Morata (ST)

The newly signed Chelsea star striker Alvaro Morata injured his hamstring in the 1-0 defeat against the Manchester City. He is expected to return to the squad by October 18. Blues are optimistic Morata’s injury hamstring injury is not as bad as first feared. Chelsea will miss him in the upcoming games.

Other Big names suffering injuries:

Arsenal star defender Laurent Koscielny, Manchester United full-back Marcus Rojo is also suffering from injuries. Koscielny is suffering from Achilles. Other big names in Premier League teams such as Clyne (Liverpool), Rose (Spurs), Dembele  (Spurs), Fellaini ( Manchester United), Wanyama (Spurs), Joshua King (Bournemouth), etc are also the victims of injuries.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Arsenal playmaker Santi Cazorla will miss most of the season due to injuries. Due to the injuries during the international break, some of the teams will have to alter the formation and bring in the replacements of the players from the bench.
