Despite winning the fifth trophy of 2017, Real Madrid were not entirely happy on their flight back home.
Barcelona has been heavily linked with Antoine Griezmann for more than a month, as they look to find a replacement for Luis Suarez. The Catalans have now moved even closer to signing the Frenchman with their recent activities.
Barcelona president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, recently met with the striker’s family and tried to pursue the player to Camp Nou.
Jealousy in the opponent’s Camp?
But the news in Spain was not well received by the Club World Cup Champions Real Madrid in UAE. According to the reports in Diario Gol, the shine was taken off Real’s 1-0 victory in the final when the players received the news about Griezmann’s transfer status.
Los Blancos won a club-record their 5th trophy of 2017 with the help of Ronaldo’s stunning free-kick. The European Champions beat Gremio 1-0 in the final.
But the reports claim Zidane’s men are now jealous of Barcelona’s possible attack in the next season. The striker will be available at £90m, a relatively cheaper buy in today’s market.

The Frenchman’s future has been uncertain for the past few months as he was ready to sign for Manchester United in the summer, only to stay at Atletico Madrid due to the club’s transfer ban.
Los Rojiblancos have now signed Diego Costa as Griezmann moves closer to the departure. The Catalan giants have reportedly beaten United, who were once favorite to sign the striker.
Atletico’s manager, Diego Simeone recently added fuel to the rumors with his comments about Griezmann.
“Of course he can leave at some point like Diego Costa and Arda Turan did in their day,” Simeone told L’Equipe.
“I love watching my players grow, and if one of them tells me that they have the unique opportunity of playing for a certain team after they did everything they could for me like Griezmann has done, I’ll say it’s not a problem.”

Amidst the transfer rumors, the French international has been off-color this season with just 5 goals in the league so far. The striker also failed to take his team to the knockout stages of Champions League as he scored just 2 goals in 6 games.
I for once do not believe this story. How can Spanish and European Champions be envious of any other team? Sure, Real Madrid have struggled this season, but they have a team and players to turn this season around. If anything, Los Blancos must be jealous of the Frenchman which Barcelona are targeting over the Frenchman which they have. ( PS: It’s not Varane)
