Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema has spoken about Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘selfish’ nature. The France striker believes it is good for the team
For over seven years now, Cristiano Ronaldo has been the star of Real Madrid. Karim Benzema joined the Portuguese from Lyon in 2010, and the duo have been at the centre of Madrid’s attack for years now. Benzema’s role in Madrid’s attack has been largely overshadowed by Ronaldo’s work.
The Portugal captain’s goals and individual awards have catapulted him to the very top of world football. However, Benzema doesn’t seem to have a problem with this. The France international has enjoyed plenty of success in Madrid alongside Ronaldo and will hope to continue the good work.

Karim Benzema not bothered with Ronaldo’s selfish nature
Speaking to Canal+ about his time at Madrid, Benzema highlighted the impact of Ronaldo’s presence in the team. The Frenchman stresses that the duo share a ‘good relationship’.
Benzema said,”At Real, I score, but when the guy who is next to you scores 50 per season (you can not do anything), it’s different from how I played at Lyon. I just like football and winning titles. I’m having fun.”
Benzema further spoke about his relationship with Ronaldo and said,”Ronaldo and I, we get on well. I like playing with him. He likes to play with one touch of the ball. He is more selfish than me, but that’s normal. That does not bother me. Finally, it’s good for the team”
The French striker will look to improve his output of goals after the international break. He and Ronaldo will have the perfect opportunity to respond to their critics when they face Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid in La Liga after the break.
Benzema is right when he says Ronaldo is selfish in his sytle of play. And that very selfish nature has contributed to several important moments for Real Madrid over the years. Benzema has often had to play the supporting role to the stars at the Santiago Bernabeu and it seems that he doesn’t have a problem with it. He and Ronaldo should step up against their rivals in the coming week to show the league that they are not done yet.
