Three title matches added to the Clash Of Champions pay-per-view

WWE has announced 3 more championship matches for the upcoming SmackDown exclusive Clash Of Champions pay-per-view.

Clash Of Champions, as the name suggests, will see all the titles defended. Since it’s a SmackDown exclusive event, only the SmackDown championships will be defended. WWE released footage on their Twitter card where Bryon Saxton announced the news. Have a look at the video below:

As per the video, the United States Championship match will be a triple threat match, wherein Baron Corbin will defend his title against “The Glorious” Bobby Roode and Dolph Ziggler. The SmackDown Tag Team Title match will also be a triple threat match where the reigning champions, The Usos, will face The New Day and the duo of Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin.

On the other hand, as far as the SmackDown Women’s title is concerned, the newly crowned champion Charlotte Flair will face Natalya at the event. The SmackDown Women’s title match might see the newly formed Team Riott playing spoilsport to continue their dominant run.

Apart from this, as reported, Jinder Mahal will invoke his rematch clause at the event for the WWE Championship and face AJ Styles in the process.

A one on one showdown between Baron Corbin and Bobby Roode was speculated initially for the United States Championship. WWE, however, has pulled up a surprise by including Dolph Ziggler for the United States title match as well.

The build-up to this event has been good. WWE would love to sign off 2017 on style with the focus on next year’s events.

Clash Of Champions is scheduled to take place at the iconic TD Garden, Boston on December 17th.

Author’s take:

The card looks to be stacked for the end of the year extravaganza. The event looks to be unpredictable as we head into it and a few title changes may take place. The tag-team title match might steal the show as they have done it in the past few months. It would be interesting to see how the WWE shape up the reins from the event heading into the Royal Rumble.
