Liverpool and Manchester United are looking to sign Brazilian youngster Malcolm from Ligue 1 club Bordeaux
Premier League club duo of Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly targeting Brazilian sensation Malcolm Filipe Silva de Oliviera, commonly known as ‘Malcolm’. The 20-year-old has shown glimpses of brilliance when playing for Bordeaux since arriving in 2016.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was hell-bent on bringing in a star winger during the summer transfer window. The Portuguese missed out on Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic after a breakdown of negotiations between the two clubs. However, the former Inter boss has now been keeping track of Malcolm to add pace, strength, skill, and quality to his side. Despite falling 14 points behind leaders Manchester City in the Premier League, Mourinho wants to strengthen his side in January.
But it now seems that the Europa League champions will face competition for signing Malcolm. Fierce rivals Liverpool are looking to find a replacement for Mohamed Salah. Yup, the Egyptian international has been scoring goals for fun in Liverpool’s Red, which has drawn attention from the European champions Real Madrid.

The Los Blancos always want the hottest and best players in the world. Currently, the former Chelsea forward fits the bill. Salah has scored 22 times for Liverpool in 29 appearances this season before Christmas, despite playing most of his football on the flanks. La Liga winners look at Salah as a potential replacement for the injury-prone Welshman Gareth Bale.
Malcolm is still relatively young and rather inexperienced. Both United and Liverpool handle talented youngsters quite well. Despite being a regular for Bordeaux, Malcolm may still need to find his feet in the Premier League when or if he arrives. Although a move to the Anfield may suit Malcolm more. Jurgen Klopp would be more willing to give the youngster a chance to perform and nurture under him.
