2 West Indies cricketers collapse on the field during 2nd T20 versus Pakistan

In a shocking development in the cricket fraternity, two West Indies cricketers collapsed on the field. The incident happened during the second T20I match between West Indies women and Pakistan women on Friday.

The two cricketers namely Chinelle Henry and Chedean Nation collapsed at Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua. This shocking incident happened during the visitors’ run-chase.

Th unexpected incident happened in a span of 10 minutes post which two cricketers were rushed to a hospital. According to a CWI spokesperson, both the players are now conscious and stable.

Meanwhile, the reason behind their sudden collapse still remains unknown. However, the officials did a good job by providing timely assistance to the affected players in the need of the hour.

“Chinelle Henry and Chedean Nation were taken to hospital for medical attention. Both Henry and Nation are conscious and stable at the hospital and are being assessed,” Cricket West Indies was quoted as saying in a statement, ESPN reported.

Due to this incident, the match was delayed. However, it restarted with West Indies calling in 2 substitutes on the field. Meanwhile, the rain played spoilsport in the game. As a result, West Indies won by 7 runs as per DLS Method.

Javeria Khan offers her prayers for the West Indies cricketers

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s women team captain Javeria Khan offered her prayers for Henry and Nation. She also wished for the two West Indies players to play the next T20I on Sunday, July 4 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua.

“The thoughts and prayers of the whole Pakistan team are with Chinelle Henry and Chedean Nation. We wish them a quick recovery and are hopeful that we will play against them in our next match on Sunday,” Khan stated in a statement.

The Pakistan skipper also appreciated the hosts for played the rest of the 2nd T20I following the heartbreaking incident. “Such incidents are tragic and can shake whole dressing rooms.

Hats off to the West Indies that they turned up and completed the match despite the grave incident,” she added. Fatima Sana was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan as she took 2 wickets. On the other hand, Kycia Knight top-scored for West Indies with 30 off 20 balls.
