IPL: Faf Du Plessis Exhibits His Tennis Skills With Forehand Shot Against Kings XI Punjab

Chennai Super Kings ace batsman FAF Du Plessis exhibited an unorthodox tennis-like shot in the match against Kings XI Punjab. The shot was very effective and it took the ball to the boundary. The South African batsman played the shot en route to their successful run chase on Sunday.

The CSK batsman has been in good form this IPL and has done the bulk of scoring for his side. On Sunday, he repeated the same against Kings XI Punjab and led his team to their second victory this IPL. The Super Kings won the match by a phenomenal 10 wickets as they chased down 178 runs with ease.

FAF played the unorthodox shot against Chris Jordan in the sixth over of the CSK innings. The Proteas batsman effectively hit the bowler for three fours in the over and one of them was reminiscent of Roger Federer’s famous forehand.

The ball went past the boundary rope in a jiffy as it left Du Plessis’ bat. Here is a look at the incredible shot.

CSK took on Kings XI Punjab in their 5th match of the tournament. The yellow army has not had a good IPL for their liking so far this season and was looking to bounce back desperately.

They restricted the opponents to a competitive total of 178 runs. Punjab skipper KL Rahul scored 63 runs off 52 balls to clinch the orange cap from his teammate Mayank Agarwal. Nicholas Pooran and Mandeep Singh slotted in with 33 (17) and 27 (16) as well.

Shane Watson, who has been out of form since the start of this IPL, looked in ominous touch as he and FAF did all the scoring for CSK. The duo ensured they took their team past the required mark without losing a wicket. Watto scored 83 runs off 53 deliveries while Du Plessis slotted in with a brilliant 87 off 53.

Watson and Du Plessis scored 60 runs in the powerplay and 101 runs for the loss of 0 wickets within the first 10 overs. The two reached the feat of putting on a 100 run partnership for the opening stand, the second one of the tournament so far.

Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul put on the first one while batting against Rajasthan Royals.

They also ensured that they reached the target with no wickets to lose. In the process, Watson and Du Plessis put on the highest ever opening partnership for CSK as well.

Murali Vijay and Michael Hussey were the ones to hold the feat so far with 159 runs that they scored against Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2011.
