Ravindra Jadeja smashes Harshal Patel for 37 runs in an over


Ravindra Jadeja has livened up the IPL 2021 with a rare feat. This comes against the Royal Chalengers Bangalore. In the final over of CSK innings, he hammered 37 runs off Harshal Patel.

Prior to this, only Chris Gayle had the record to his name. In 2011, Chris Gayle while playing for RCB franchise scored 37 runs off Kerala pacer Prasanth Parameswaran. After today’s match, ravindra Jadeja becomes the second player in IPL history to attain this milestone.

The 19th match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings was going on all silent and dull. However the course of the match was changed completely when Ravindra Jadeja decided to go after the purple cap holder.

Skipper Virat Kohli handed over the ball to Harshal Patel for the final over. Harshal Patel had a brilliant spell with the ball in the match. He had just conceded 14 runs in 03 overs with 03 crucial wickets to his credit. Royal Challengers had full control over the game as Chennai Super Kings seemed to struggle.

The first ball was sent to the stands by Ravindra Jadeja as he anticipated the slower delivery perfectly. The second delivery could not be any better as Harshal Patel bowled a slot delivery. Ravindra Jadeja did no mistake to send the ball to the destination.

Daniel Christian had dropped a catch of Ravindra Jadeja in the deep perviously. This served as a boomerang for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Pressure of being hit for 2 consecutive sixes got on Harshal Patel. He bowled a foul delivery, above the waist which was also sent for 6.

With 19 runs in just 02 balls, Ravindra Jadeja was heading towards a rare feat. Free hit resulted out of the no ball was also hammered for a six. Fifty for Ravindra Jadeja came in style. He brought out his signature sword celebration to cherish the moment.

But the story did not end there. The next delivery by Harshal Patel was a wide yorker. The extra cover fielder timed his leap superbly but could not get hold of the ball. This resulted in 02 runs.

Coming back to his form, Ravindra Jadeja went on to hit another six in the very next dlivery. This was again a low full toss and he clobbered it over deep mid-wicket. Vrat Kohli was not at all happy with these coninual mistakes from Harshal Patel.

The final delivery off Harshal Patel resulted in a boundary. Ravindra Jadeja missed it by a few inches to break Chris Gayle’s record of 37 runs in an over.

Chennai Super Kings set a 192 run target for Royal Challengers Bangalore

Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first. Both openrs Faf Du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad established a solid platform for the side by blasting 74 runs for the first wicket. Yuzvendra Chahal brought the much needed break through by dismissing Gaikwad.

With Chennai Super Kings setting sail comfortably, Harshal Patel proved to be a nightmare. He bagged 2 wickets in a single over to reduce the flow of runs. Brilliant death over bowling by the RCB bowlers put the run rate under check. However the late surge from all rounder Ravindra Jadeja enabled CSK to post a massive 192 run target on board.
