3 Reasons Why Cesc Fabregas Is A Better Choice Than Oscar To Start For Chelsea

Chelsea face Arsenal on Saturday after their defeat against Liverpool. Cesc Fabregas will be hoping to get a start for the Blues after his emphatic display in their crucial late win against Leicester in the league cup.

Fabregas was absolutely killing it in the title winning season under Jose Mourinho but the season after he struggled like every other Chelsea player and under Conte he has failed to keep a place for himself in the starting lineup and has seen Oscar above in the pecking order even after Oscars not so impressive performances.

Antonio Conte may have his reservations against Cesc Fabregas but his continuous inclusion of Oscar in the team is rising tension and angst among the Chelsea faithfuls and the Italian might have to force himself to give a start to Fabregas and deservedly so after his performance against Leicester.

Fabregas offers much more with his play than Oscar does. Fabregas’ vision and creativity is probably the best in the Chelsea squad and had the edge over Oscar who although possses great talent but hardly delivers it.

Chelsea have gone two games without a win in the league and even though they’ve won fair bit of games but their display hasn’t been totally comforting for the Chelsea fans, they need someone who could run the games for them from the middle of the park as Matic and Kantè are there to break and do the dirty work.

Arsenal have been in great form recently ajd their midfield has been producing a lot of good stuff. Granit Xakha’s stunners and also his defensive play has been good enough to justify his price tag and Conte has so far utilized a 4-1-4-1 formation with Oscar playing next to Nemanja Matic, and then N’Golo Kante sitting deep. It’s quite defensive setup but that setup might actually be exactly what is needed at the Emirates but to win the game he needs someone who could provide the authority and much needed moment of brilliance in the need of the hour.

Arsenal are likely to control possession and Chelsea will need Matic and Kante in the team to try and sure up the center of the park. Which leaves only Oscar for Fabregas to replace. Oscar works harder than Fabregas does, but doesn’t nearly have the end product of his teammate. Fabregas offers much more to Chelsea than what Oscar will creatively. Conte might need to change his gameplay and formation to accommodate Fabregas but it might be a welcome change at Chelsea could be the decisive change to help the Blues win the against their arch nemesis.

Afterwards, Conte can tweak things and get experimental with formations and the personnel in his lineup all he wants. But for this game, Fabregas is not essential. And if he does earn his first Premier League start of the season, then it must be in place of Oscar.
