3-time Champions League winning manager to replace Arsene wenger?

The talks of replacing Arsene Wenger have restarted after Arsenal’s humiliating defeat in FA Cup. Board has now shortlisted a legendary manager for the job.

Arsene Wenger and the rumours about his job security is easily one of the most dragged stories in the football world. The Frenchman’s place was in danger at the end of last season but the board decided to keep his for another two years.

Now, Carlo Ancelotti has appeared as the front-runner to take over from Arsene Wenger at the end of the season. The Italian has been out of work ever since he was sacked by Bayern Munich. The Bavarian giants replaced him with former manager Jupp Heynckes.

Back to London?

After Arsenal’s embarrassing 4-2 defeat in FA Cup against the second tier’s Nottingham Forest, the rumours have again started to build up. The Gunners board is seriously considering other options for the hot-seat and they have shortlisted 3-times Champions League winning manager Carlo Ancelotti for the job.

Bayern Munich

The reports in Corriere Dello Sport suggest that the manager in planning to come back to England, with Arsenal ahead in the race for the Italian. Ancelotti is reportedly ready to accept the 4-year offer for €4 million plus add-ons.

Other Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester United, are also named in the rumours. The Blues want the Italian back at the club to replace unsettled and reportedly Italy-bound Antonio Conte. The current form of the Red Devils have also raised the questions about Jose Mourinho but Gunners remain favourites.

Ancelotti is currently not tied to any club after Bayern Munich sacked him in September. The Italian has rejected the offers from Italian and Saudi Arabian national sides since then. Green Falcons were even ready to offer 10million for the job.

Arsenal board is also ready to part ways with Arsene Wenger after 21 years. The Frenchman has been considered as the best coach in the Gunner’s history. But he has failed to win the Premier League after 2004 – the season of the ‘Invincibles’. This season, the London-based club also failed to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in Wenger’s leadership.

If or not Ancelotti will accept the job offer is still to be seen. For now, the Italian is currently enjoying his holidays.

Author’s Take:

There have been a lot of rumours about Wenger’s post in the past. But the Frenchman’s position is really under scrutiny after FA cup defeat. It is also necessary for the board to replace Wenger now. He has done a terrific job at the club in the last 21 years but has failed to keep up with the competition in the last 4-5 years. And who better than Carlo Ancelotti to replace him, a man who has already tasted success in England in the past.
