A protest was held near the stadium in favour of the political separatist leaders who were detained 2 months ago. ‘Independence’ and ‘freedom’ was chanted by the protesters along with flags reading ‘Spain Sit and Talk’. They also seem to set numerous containers on fire. The local authorities or the police took action against them by launching foam projectiles. It was a violent scenario. According to the System Of Medical Emergencies, at least 46 people received injuries.

The match that evening, Real Madrid vs Barcelona at Camp Nou, settled for a goalless draw. This happened for the first time in the last 50 Clasicos.

Real Madrid seemed to have outplayed Barcelona as Barcelona failed to get going throughout the game. The draw left both the teams on an equal scale of 36 points.

This match was rescheduled from 26th October but was postponed due to the unsafe environment for the supporters and players. This delay was insisted by La Blaugrana president Josep Bartomeu.

Sergio Ramos stated that they saw a great Real Madrid side with a lot of character which is exactly the image they wanted to give. They went out to try and take the ball off Real Madrid and they created a lot of chances. He also told the reporters that they watched the penalty appeals at half-time and they seemed pretty clear but they had had bad luck.

Casemiro said that he wasn’t sure about the penalty, but when they saw Varane’s leg at half-time and the video, there were no doubts that it was a penalty. He said that they went home angry.

Ivan Rakitic admitted Barcelona had struggled for parts of the match.”Real Madrid had a lot of chances in the first half, it was tough for us but then we had a few opportunities. It was a game that could have been decided by the odd goal but it wasn’t to be,” he said.
