The Blues couldn’t tie down Hazard to a long term and could lose eight players for free next summer.
After winning the Europa League, nothing seems to be going right for Chelsea. The West London club has already lost it’s most influential player Eden Hazard to Real Madrid. Chelsea is facing the prospect of a 12-month transfer ban. The transfer ban would result in Chelsea not able to sign replacement of Hazard. Also, there’s news of Maurizio Sarri leaving Chelsea after staying in charge for a season. With dark times hovering around Chelsea, it seems they may have to face more trouble as these eight players could leave the club for free by next year.
With a transfer ban issued by FIFA hanging over their heads, it seems unlikely that any new players will be arriving at Stamford Bridge in the summer.
If the Blues are unable to bring in new faces, then it will be more important than ever to keep a hold of their key players, especially having lost Eden Hazard to Real Madrid.
With just one year remaining on his contract, Chelsea had a decision to make over the Belgian’s future, do they take the £88million rising to £130million on offer or risk losing their player for nothing next summer. Ultimately, the sheer amount of money on offer along with the player’s desire to move on was just too much for Blues chiefs to turn down.
With just one year remaining on their contract, there are eight other players who find themselves in a similar situation to Hazard.
