Aaron Finch’s Retirement Opens the Door for David Warner to Lead Australia

David Warner is in the race to lead Australia again in the limited overs cricket after the recent retirement of Aaron Finch. Since his return to cricket after one year ban, Warner seems to have become a different cricketer.

The sandpaper incident was a big blow to the cricketing world when David Warner and Steve Smith were found tampering the ball. Back in 2018 in a Test match against South Africa, both the players were caught adjusting the dimensions of the ball that violated the ICC rules and regulations.

Subsequently, Cricket Australia decided to ban Warner and Smith for a year. On the other hand, Cameron Bancroft was handed a suspension period of nine months.

Addressing his take over captaincy Warner said, “Cummins is there as the test captain so he gets the opportunity first for the limited overs cricket too. Well, my phone is here if CA wants to have any conversation over the captaincy role. I am ready for any talks. And the new board has also arrived. I am happy and want to focus on cricket and provide the best to the team in any circumstances.”
