Chelsea owner Roman Abramovic is now looking at La Liga stars as potential replacements, as he believes the club will be unable to stop Eden Hazard from leaving.
There is no denying that the La Liga champions are huge admirers of Hazard, and will secure his services in a flash given the opportunity. Even the 27-year-old winger has publicly spoken of his praise and desire to play for the Los Blancos one day. But there is absolutely no way that Premier League champions Chelsea would want arguably their best player to leave London unless they are offered a massive deal for Hazard.
And Russian billionaire businessman Roman Abramovic is seeking just that after reportedly putting up a huge swap deal on the table.
The Swap Deal Once Again -?
Abramovic is also considering offering Eden Hazard to Madrid in order to land Spanish attacker Marco Asensio at Stamford Bridge or even Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo. But Abramovic is concerned about the latter’s age factor limiting him to only a few more seasons playing football at the top level, despite Ronaldo finding his form of late.
Therefore, the 22-year-old Asensio becomes the first choice in a swap for Hazard. Asensio has made most of his appearances off the bench this season and has still managed to impress heavily by scoring cracking winners and linking up well in the front-line. This January transfer window has been overshadowed by only one real mega-transfer which was of Alexis Sanchez joining Manchester United while Henrikh Mkhitaryan arrived at the Emirates in a swap deal.
Author’s Take-
Asensio seems like a world-class talent and could find himself as a regular in Antonio Conte’s side, which would benefit both the player and the club as well. And although losing Hazard would come as a huge blow to the Londoner’s but why keep a player who is unwilling to extend his contract.
Instead, bring in the highly rated Spaniard to replace Hazard as Ronaldo may not be preferred due to his age and after having a history with fierce rivals Manchester United.
