Emery captained Mesut Ozil and the German delivered a world-class performance to help Arsenal return to winning ways.
Coming into this fixture, both Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton had defeated Arsenal. Despite the speculations surrounding the relationship between Mesut Ozil and Unai Emery, the former captained the latter in Arsenal’s Premier League clash against Burnley.
Ozil, who didn’t start for Arsenal against Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup, exhibited his class and vision in the 14th minute as his low, diagonal pass to Sead Kolašinac, who had a fantastic game helped Arsenal score their opener. Kolasinac brilliantly sent the ball to Aubameyang, who duly converted it to put Arsenal upfront.
Ozil’s pass was sublime, to say the least. One would expect Ozil to pass the pass to Aubameyang or to curl the ball into the top corner, but the German chose neither and a pinpoint pass to Sead Kolasinac was delivered. Talk About Vision Level!

You see that Mesut Ozil pass
That is what you don't have if you leave him out for 'Tactical reason'.
Mkhi and Iwobi combined would never see that pass.
Absolute goat Mesut.

Ozil also played a big role in Arsenal’s third and winning goal. Ozil received the ball in the midfield and ran forward and entered into the box, made some movements and his pass was deflected and fell to the path of Iwobi, who easily slotted it home. Arsenal wins the match. Wow.

With this victory, it ensured Arsenal they hold the 5th place come this Christmas. However, Unai Emery’s men will have to keep doing their good work in their upcoming fixtures to ensure they are in the UEFA Champions League next season.
Against Burnley, Ozil delivered a world-class performance and if the German can keep performing consistently, it will only strengthen Arsenal’s hopes of a top-four finish. Meanwhile, Aubameyang scored two goals against Burnley and is the current top scorer in the English Premier League. He has 12 English Premier League goals to his name this season.
Author’s Take:
Ozil delivered another master-class against Burnley and Arsenal fans would be praying to see similar performances week in, week out. Emery’s decision to captain Ozil also shows that the German is still in the plans of the gaffer.
