Adidas launches first urban football destination in India

Football in India is struggling to become a leading choice in the presence of cricket, and after scores of dedicated initiatives and ventured plans, it’s slowly but steadily pacing forward to cover the nation’s grounds. One of the exulting things that took place in this aspect is launching of an urban centre of football here in Chhattarpur area of Delhi, first ever in the country, by Adidas.Badge_of_Sport_Logo_BWp._V279056740_-750x539 The leading Sportswear manufacturer has constructed the Base as a dream destination for footballers in India. The splendid inauguration, which took place on 4th February, was attended by Indian sports stars like Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, and also by Nigerian FIFA world cup player Rabiu Afolabi.
Stepping into the dimensional features, the Base is known to have a spatial area of 2.5 acres, which inhabits a natural pitch of 24,000 sq feet along with an artificial one which is spread around 9,000 sq feet. It comprises of washrooms and changing rooms, large parking space for a hundred and fifty cars and is armed with innovative technologies to aid emerging talents of the game in India.
Hrishikesh Shinde, Director football for Adidas India comments, “Football in India is growing rapidly with many young players aspiring to turn professional. We are delighted to provide a world-class facility for the next generation of footballers. The Base in Delhi will become a focal point of grassroots football and we are looking to take the concept to other metros this year.”
Further navigating into the idea, Rabiu Afolabi said, “I strongly believe that the young talent in India has immense potential to make a mark on global football map and I look forward to my close involvement with the players through Adidas.”
This effort by Adidas will not only invite players from Delhi and NCR but the whole country is going to be attracted to the only great football plaza of the land.
KL also spoke up, “I have had the chance to tour ‘the Base’ and experience its facilities, which are second to none in India. It is indeed a great platform for young football creators and fans to experience the beautiful game in a thoroughly beautiful setting ”.IMG_20170207_013946-750x450
Adidas has really made a grand contribution to the development of the future of football in India.
Concerning the precise location, the Base is located just 2 km away from Chhattarpur metro station, which is on the yellow line.
