Recently, D’Angelo Russell broke his silence and attacked Nick Young, a former Los Angeles Lakers teammate. The point guard had issued a public challenge to the former NBA star, challenging him to a fight in the ring.
Young was questioned on the Boxing with Chris Mannix podcast about the one opponent he’d most like to square off against.
He answered right away, saying “D’Angelo,” and the interviewer noted that it was a name that everyone expected. Russell was the only player he mentioned, which is interesting, but he also said he’d like to fight “some players on the Warriors…some guys on the Lakers… a couple coaches.”
The two athletes’ relationship suffered following their publicised feud in 2016. SwaggyP allegedly confessed to cheating on his former fiancée Iggy Azalea while being recorded by the point guard.
Russell was attacked by everyone
After the video broke, Russell was attacked by everyone—including Young. An insider on the crew said it was all a “prank gone wrong.”
The Los Angeles Lakers team reportedly isolated Russell from the locker room as tensions between the two teammates shot through the roof.
The Lakers eventually traded him to the Brooklyn Nets in 2017, forcing him to find a new home. Young played his final season (2017–18) with the Golden State Warriors, with whom he captured the NBA title.
Nick Young continues to act
The entire incident occurred about six years ago. Yet Nick Young continues to act as though he has anything against D’Angelo Russell.
The player for the Minnesota Timberwolves has maintained his innocence and said he had no idea how the video was leaked. Young, on the other hand, is of the opinion that Russell was the “snitch.”
It appeared as though their long-running beef may spill over into the ring, but Russell made the decision to break his quiet. Tweeting, “My name keep dude relevant, and I’m going to grave with “I ain’t do that s**t” #CarryOn,” he took aim at Young.
D’Lo chose not to name anyone in his tweet, although it is possible to infer that it was meant for Young.
Russell claimed in a tweet that the former NBA player’s legitimacy is maintained by his name. He also made it clear that he wasn’t the source of the video release.
D’Angelo Russell will be focused on the upcoming season while the NBA world waits for Nick Young to respond.
