PSG are under investigation by UEFA for the breach of FFP regulations and now, one of the player’s agent has come out and spoken about the client’s future.
Neymar’s father has temporarily put off speculation suggesting his son will move clubs this summer. Neymar Sr. revealed that the 27-year-old is currently in discussion with PSG to end his contract. The Brazilian already has three years left on his cyrrent contract, which runs out during the summer of 2022. This comes after rumours sprung out linking Neyamr with a move to Real Madrid.
“We are talking about an extension”
“He is in the second year of his contract [with PSG] so he still has three years before the end of his contract [in 2022],” Neymar Sr. told UOL.“We are already talking about an extension with PSG.”
Neymar Sr. conceded that his son’s name has regularly been in the midst of transfer speculation throughout his career. But he pointed to the fact that he has only played for three clubs at the age of 27.
“His name has been speculated since he was 17, from the moment he made his professional debut.” Neymar has only had two transfers in his life but there has been speculation for 10 years. The probability that he will not leave is too great. People say: ‘Neymar is in all the transfer rumours to the big clubs in each transfer window’. This means that there is good management of his career, he is always among the names [of clubs who matter]. But that does not mean he’s going to go to one club or another.”Neymar Sr.
Neymar not returning to Barca
Earlier this season, Neymar has been linked with a return to Camp Nou. But his father had come out to clarified that it wasn’t the case. “Barca are a huge club, we were very happy over there,” Neymar Sr told TF1 on Sunday. “It’s impossible to leave a player like him out of these (transfer market) rumours. But it’s a lie, there hasn’t been a call with Barca.”
“There are two people who speak for Neymar: himself and me. Neither of us has spoken about this intention to return to Barcelona. These rumours amuse us a lot. These journalists are funny. The future is in Paris, the present is in Paris,” he concluded.
Neymar might not move this summer but, ultimately, he would want to move out of the French league. PSG have not been a dominant force in Europe for years and winning Ligue 1 titles will not fulfill Neymar’s apitite. With Real Madrid is only plausible option, the Brazilian has got himself into a muddle by moving to the French capital.
