Breaking: Aguero Comments On His Third Goal vs Arsenal

Aguero starred for Pep Guardiola’s side as they beat Unai Emery’s Arsenal 3-1.

The victory helped Manchester City remain in the title race and the result will add pressure on Liverpool to deliver a victory against West Ham. Manchester City opened the cards as early as the first minute as Aguero headed past Leno.

Arsenal restored parity tens minutes later as Koscileny scored a header. Nevertheless, Aguero scored again, in the 43rd minute, to hand the visitors the lead again.

In the second half, Manchester City displayed dominance and put the game to bed, courtesy of another goal from their star man, Sergio Aguero. However, the final touch, before crossing the line, came off from his left-arm. Speaking on that, Aguero said, (via The Guardian), “It’s important to win. The other day I scored early, 25 seconds, and we lose. Today I am very happy. I think the third goal was off my chest. Now I see on TV it was a handball.”

Meanwhile, Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho said that they deserved the victory. He said, (via The Guardian), “We wanted to go back on track. Playing good football and today we deserved it. We scored another early goal and I think we deserved the win. They are very dangerous on set-pieces. I think we didn’t drop the level. We maintained our rhythm and we scored a second goal and in the second half we controlled the game. “

With this victory, Manchester City now have 59 points, two points behind Liverpool, who have a match on hand. Meanwhile, Arsenal dropped to sixth with Chelsea at fourth and Manchester United at fifth.

Manchester City next face Everton before facing Chelsea on Sunday. Arsenal face bottom-dwellers Huddersfield in their next Premier League clash.

Author’s Take

Manchester City deserved this victory. Although Sergio Aguero admitted that the third goal was a hand, it would not have made much impact on the result. Guardiola’s side had clearly dominated Arsenal and the Gunners looked inferior in the second half. This was much crucial victory for Manchester City and they will be hoping Liverpool to drop points.
