Algerian winger is confident his form will improve in the second half of the Premier League.

My best is yet to come at City says Mahrez.

The 27-year-old Algerian football player  Riyadh Mahrez has failed to hold down a regular starting place since joining Manchester City in the summer.

He joined the champions from Leicester on 10 July with a confirmation of a five-year contract. The transfer fee was £60million, City’s most expensive signing.

The transfer made him the most expensive African footballer.

He had to adapt to the demands of Pep Guardiola’s system.

Mahrez has also had to adjust to fighting for his place in the starting line-up, with eight of his 17 Premier League appearances coming from the bench.

When you arrive for the first six months it’s always difficult to adapt to everything.

I’m very good. I am still new to the team. I think more months are going to pass and I’m going to be better,”

It’s massive because you have to win now, every time.

You don’t have any chance to drop points because when you drop points, the opponent wins and now they’re in front of us, for example, Liverpool,” said Mahrez.

Despite his expectation of improvement, Mahrez has made a significant contribution as City have maintained their free-scoring form.

He found the net in the Champions League as Guardiola’s side comfortably advanced to the knockout stages.

Author’s take:

The 27-year-old has scored five of City’s 50 league goals ever since his transfer from Leicester. Mahrez have made an adequate amount of contribution since then.

Despite his expectations of improvement at the club. He has made an adequate amount of contribution and continues to adapt at City. He also believes his form will improve in the second half of League season.
