Chelsea center-back Fikayo Tomori has emerged as a transfer target for the Everton.
Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti is looking to sign a new central defender to bolster their defense. According to The Times, Merseyside giants are looking to sign Fikayo Tomori on a loan deal in this transfer window.
Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed a long term injury to their fist team center-back Jason Holgate in a recent press conference. Yerry Mina and Michael Keane are only senior first-team central defenders are available for the Toffees.
The new Arrival of Thiago Silva at Stamford Bridge is going to affect the game time for the 22-year-old Tomori. He will down in the pecking order for the Chelsea manager Frank Lampard’s strong defense.
Update on Carlo Ancelotti’s defensive option:
Everton are yet to sign any defensive player in this transfer window. The 19-year-old left full-back Niels Kounkou has joined the academy from Marseille. Leighton Baines, Cuco Martina, and Luke Garbutt all have been released by the club at the end of last season.
Full-back positions are well placed by Lucas Digne on left and Seamus Colemon on right. In the central defensive role, there are only three senior players available at Goodison Park. Yerry Mina and Michael Keanes started in the center-back role against the Spurs but there was no substitute option on the bench.
Youngster Jarrad Branthwaite who is just 18-year-old and Matthew Pennington who is a fringe player are the only options available for Ancelotti. Jason Holgate’s injury is a big blow for Everton fans who are demanding new cover signing in this transfer window.
Everton is a club that can make a challenge to top-six of the English Premier League giants. Despite spending and investing heavily in recent seasons they were not able to live up the expectations of their fans.
But this season it can change, opening day away league win against Tottenham Hotspur showed that. A solo goal from striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin gave a surprise win to Everton in that fixture.
Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti is enjoying a successful transfer window this summer. They have signed the first-team midfielders in the form of James Rodriguez, Allan, and Abdoulaye Doucoure. All three new signing started and impressed against Spurs on Sunday evening at Wembley Stadium. A new center-back signing is a must at Goodison Park if they want to keep up their momentum.
Fikayo Tomori open for an exit at Stamford Bridge?
New Signing Thiago Silva will be playing a key role in Lampard’s 4-3-3 formation. Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christiansen started in the first match of the season against Brighton and Hove Albion. Silva is currently sidelined due to minor injury, he will be back in the squad to replace Christiansen soon.
Fikayo Tomori came in the first team sheet due to consistent injuries to Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christiansen. But now both players are back to full fitness at Stamford Bridge. Both players will be back up options for the Silva and Zouma for the most of the fixtures this season. Club captain Cesar Azpilicueta is also very much capable of playing in the center-defender role.
So it will be very difficult for the Fikayo Tomori to find a regular first-team place in the squad this season. Chelsea is currently in talks with signings of goalkeeper Edouard Mendy from Rennes, who are also interested in Tomori.
