The media seemed to be more interested in Napoli’s transfer targets especially James Rodriguez than their loss to Barcelona on Wednesday.
Carlo Ancelotti is still interested in the Columbian playmaker James Rodriguez. Not to forget, James’ best season for Real Madrid under the coaching of Carlo Ancelotti. Scoring 17 times and assisting another 15 times. However, Zidane does not seem to be a fan of James.
He loaned the player to Bayern Munich, under Ancelotti for two seasons but they cannot be called James’ best ones. With Asensio also injured and feared to be out for the whole season, James could still stay at Real Madrid. However, nothing is certain with 1 month of transfer business still left.
James signed for Real Madrid in 2014 for 80 Million Euros. James had already established himself as a world-class player helping his national side reach the world cup quarter-finals in 2014. He has a great first season with Real Madrid. However, the following season as Zidane took over the helm, James’ importance to the club reduced.
James was a world-class play but he didn’t for in Zidane’s 4-3-3 formation. Hence, he spent most of this time on the bench under Zidane and pushed for a move away from Los Blancos in 17-18. He moved to Bayern on a two-year loan deal. Failing to have an impact there, James returned to the Bernabeu. However, Zidane made it clear that James would not be a part of his plans. James Rodriguez has since been on the transfer market and a target for various clubs.
Napoli were forerunners to sign the Columbian with Carlo Ancelotti a big fan of the player. However, Napoli and Real Madrid value the player at differently and hence haven’t been able to reach an agreement. Ancelotti has started growing frustrated with the talks about James and Napoli.
In the post-match conference, he said, “I don’t want to talk about James right now”. “It’s a subject that’s talked about too much. If I have to talk to him about something, I’ll talk to him directly.” Ancelotti said to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, “Have I forced the president? Not just that, I have threatened him.” Ancelotti said jokingly. He is keen to reunite with James who he managed in Real Madrid as well as Bayern Munich. Los Blancos are trying to get a fee of around 40 million for James but Napoli value him under 35 million Pounds.
Other teams interested in James are Atletico Madrid and Juventus. Atletico are ready to pay 5o million Euros for the Columbian. Even former compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo has asked Juve to sign James should Paulo Dybala leave this season. Another team that could swoop James is Tottenham.
That is if Christian Ericsen leaves them. Atletico are the main completion for Napoli in the race to sign James. Napoli are pushing for a loan move but Real want a transfer fee for the Columbian. With 1 month of the transfer window left, let’s see where will James play next season.
