Anil Kumble makes a MASSIVE statement on MS Dhoni’s batting position ahead of the 2019 World Cup

Anil Kumble in a recent interview stated MS Dhoni’s spot for the 2019 World Cup

When it comes to a player who a team can rely upon and whose mind games are exceptionally great, MS Dhoni is the  one for India. He is India’s most celebrated pllayers of all time. As is age is passing by, he is getting better and better with time, and 2019 has been started off really well for the former skipper.

His recent scores included three consecutive half-centuries in the recently concluded ODI series against the Kangaroos, where he was awarded as the player of the Tournament. He continued to display his decent form against New Zealand and is currently playing the T20I series.

Where many criticized about Dhoni’s place in World cup, commencing May 30, Indian skipper Virat Kohli was found supporting him and stated him being a key player for World Cup, along with Virat Kohli, former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble is of the opinion that Dhoni should bat at number four.

“I think there is a lot of talk especially when MS comes into the batting line up. About not having to go all the way and win matches. He has done that in Australia, he has done that many numbers of times. I still believe that he is someone who can bat at number four. If India is in trouble, push him up,” Kumble was quoted as saying in Cricket Next.

“He will take his time, you need that and then he has the experience so that he makes sure he bats till the end. And others can be a bit positive around him. I think that is the role he will play and his experience is really needed not just in front of the stumps and also behind the stumps,” he added.

AUTHOR’S TAKE:

Dhoni has time and again proved his position in the team whenever required. He had always played and finished the matches for India on a consistent basis over the years. And as far as the World Cup is concerned, it won’t be a bad idea to shift Dhoni to the number four position given the experience he holds. Players like Ambati Rayudu who have also been getting the best out of them over the course of the last few months aren’t half as experienced. MS, on the other hand, is one of the most experienced players currently in the squad. If the team gets stuck at any stage of the game, Dhoni would certainly be the best man to rescue the team from even the worst of situations.
