Ansu has recently been in news because of his on and off the news. Ansu Father has told his desire for his to play for another country.
FC Barcelona’s Ansu Fati is now eligible to represent Spain at U-17 World Cup after the government-sanctioned the nationalization for the youngster on Friday.
Guinea-Bissau born winger has been in Spain for a significant time period and he’s now eligible to represent them in the upcoming U-17 World Cup event in Brazil. However, Fati’s father wanted him to represent Portugal and snub Spain ahead of the U-17 World Cup.
According to Marca, Barcelona’s wonderkid will feature for Spain in the U-17 World Cup event, which is to be held at Brazil in October, but the winger was also eligible to play for Portugal as well. Ansu Fati has been a key player in Ernesto Valverde’s plans for Barcelona after Messi’s absence and his presence will be missed in the Camp Nou by the Cules.

Bori Fati says that his hope was that his son would represent Portugal instead of Spain. He said, “My dream was to see my son playing for Portugal and I think that was also his dream, but now it’s difficult.” Bori Fati also mentioned that he was contacted by President of the Spanish Federation directly after the impressive performance of his 16-year-old son.
Ansu Fati was bought to Spain when he was seven years old and later invited to join the prestigious ‘La Masia’ academy at the age of ten. It’s really an achievement for the 16-year-old kid scoring after two minutes into the game on his La Liga debut. It was a magical night for him as he received a standing ovation from more than 80,000 fans in the Camp Nou as he left the pitch.
Bori Fati added that “He feels Portuguese and so do I. And it would be easy for him to play for Portugal, it would be enough for Umaro Embalo to convince him.” Umaro Embalo is also from Guinea-Bissau and he’s representing Portugal at National level. Embalo plays for Benfica B in LigaPro and Bori mentions him as a good friend of Ansu.
“He is a great friend and speaks every day with Ansu. Everything is in the hands of Ansu, he will make a decision now,” said Bori Fati.
