Anthony Martial annoyed after being benched by Mourinho

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has expressed his discomfort for being left at bench for a long period.

The French International made a quick impact in the Premier League in his first season itself. He joined the Red Devils in 2015 and also became one of the phenomenal players at the club.

In 2015, Louis van Gaal signed Anthony Martial from French club Monaco for a reported fee of £57.6m including add-ons. Martial was also the best player for Manchester United in his first season itself. In addition, he scored 17 goals from 49 appearances in all competitions.

Anthony Martial says his life on the Manchester United bench is “truly annoying” as he fights for a place in José Mourinho’s team.  It is also understood that change of position and philosophy under a new manager has not helped the young forward.

Martial is struggling to replicate the same form this season under new boss Jose Mourinho. He has scored just 4 goals from 16 appearances this season.

Martial told SFR Sport: “It’s annoying, it’s really annoying, but it’s a challenge you have to overcome and that’s how you progress. It’s hard. All you want to do is try and help your team, and when you’re on the bench you can’t. In the end, these are choices and you have to accept them. “

“No, I know people expect a lot from me. Maybe they also forget I’m still young at times. They can say what they want, to be honest, it won’t change anything.”
