Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has responded to any rumors that Chelsea defender David Luiz is leaving Stamford Bridge for Real Madrid.
The Brazilian international has been dropped from the Chelsea squad following the Blues’ 3-0 defeat to Roma in the Champions League and many claims that it was due to a row. David Luiz was said to have questioned manager Antonio Conte’s decisions and tactics, which led to Conte dropping the 30-year-old before the clash against Manchester United.
However, according to reports from the Mirror, Express and even Daily Mail, the Brazilian has been in contact with La Liga giants Real Madrid, as he doubts his future in a Chelsea shirt. But despite that Conte doesn’t believe that David Luiz is going anywhere and has further ruled out any January departures.
The 30-year-old center back was dropped for crucial matches against West Brom, Manchester United and even Liverpool, but was injured for the 1-0 win over Swansea City. However, despite that Conte has put Luiz’s omission from the squad down to tactical decisions.
In an interview, the 48-year-old said “Then when it will be the moment of transfer market, we can start to speak about this. I must be honest, I don’t read because I don’t have time to read because we are playing every three days.
For this reason, my focus is on the pitch, to prepare in the right way, my team. As you know very well, these are speculations in this period. We pass from my sacking, to Real Madrid. We are very fast to pass in these two different situations. My focus is only on Chelsea and I’m totally committed to this club and for my players.”

With the Blues sitting in sitting in third place, only one point behind second-placed Manchester United, Antonio Conte is more focused on catching up to Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s side sits eleven points ahead of Chelsea and is still unbeaten in the league after 14 games and that’s al that the Chelsea manager is focused on. Antonio Conte further added “I think this moment is very early to talk about this topic. This is not right. We are in December. There is one month to play. I think now it’s very important to be focused and go game-by-game, to put all ourselves for Chelsea and try to do our best.”
While David Luiz does see his future in doubt, especially at Stamford Bridge, if he ever wants to join a club like Real Madrid he needs to play more games. While David Luiz has made eight appearances in the Premier League, for Luiz to even interest Zinedine Zidane, he needs to start improving his performances and win back Antonio Conte’s faith.
