A month ago, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp praised Antonio Conte saying the Italian was ‘Pep Guardiola of Turin’. “He’s a successful manager. He was the Pep Guardiola of Turin. He created a special style of play. He was very successful there and with the [Italian] national team”, said Klopp.

Antonio Conte won three consecutive Serie A titles with Juventus and had a good tenure with Italian national team also. Since moving, he has introduced a new 3-4-3 system at Chelsea which was completely new to their traditional formation.

“I don’t know but, for sure, I think that’s a great compliment,” Conte said regarding Klopp’s comments. “I heard that Klopp said this because I had the possibility to build a clear idea of football at Juventus.”

“Pep played in Italy. He was a fantastic midfielder. He was more a pivot in front of the defensive line. I was more offensive, with penetration. I think I ran more than him. But he thought more than me with the ball.”

Both managers are often compared because of their technical brilliance at their clubs and the passion they show on touchline. Former Juve Captain has been moulding Chelsea back into title challengers despite their poor performance last season.

“Two good players that won a lot in their careers, and lost a lot as well. I lost a lot of finals,” said Conte.
