Arsenal and Liverpool player linked to Newcastle move

Dwight Gayle will be out with a knee injury for most of next season. So Newcastle United are targeting Arsenal and Liverpool aces.

Newcastle United look to bolster their forward this summer window. Their main man Dwight Gayle will be out for a major part of next season. The forward dealt with a knee injury, sidelining him till December. Hence the magpies have been on the lookout for an ideal frontman.

Recent reports did claim that Newcastle was to seal a deal for Callum Wilson. The Bournemouth striker will arrive on a £20m transfer fee. But Newcastle gaffer Steve Bruce will not settle with Wilson alone. He is reportedly eyeing Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah and Liverpool player Rhian Brewster.

The magpies were seen to play their Andy Carroll for their warm-up matches. The arrival of Callum Wilson was thought to do the job for Newcastle. But it seems as though Steve Bruce is demanding for more depth in his squad, via The Telegraph

. As a result, they are eyeing the young duo on a loan deal.

Both Nketiah and Brewster are raising youngsters. The duo still lacks permanent roles in the first-team. Hence, Newcastle are keen to land them to play them in the forward.

Bruce needs a stable frontline ahead of the new season. And Gayle’s injury has been a concern for him. Adding Callum Wilson alone may not do the job for him and he is insisting on signing the youngsters.

Steve Bruce is desperate to add more flare to him frontline. The addition of Callum Wilson is not enough for him. Hence, he has been tipped to make a move for Rhian Brewster and Eddie Nketiah. This will help the gaffer to keep the club’s frontline strong. And also will provide him with enough cover to rotate his squad.

Eddie Nketiah has been an impressive young talent. The 21-year-old was away on loan at Leeds for half of last season. Mikel Arteta recalled the player once he took the reins. But he is still to make his breakthrough into the first-team. Nketiah did make short appearances for the Gunners.

The youngster is currently away on international duty. Nketiah scored a hat trick for England U21 against Kosovo recently. He also made an appearance in the community shield game against Liverpool. Eddie has four goals to his name in all competitions for Arsenal. Steve Bruce seems keen to land the youngster this window.

Rhian Brewster is also in Bruce’s wishlist. The Liverpool forward was also away on loan last season at Swansea. He was lined in the community shield game and missed to score a penalty in the shootout. Brewster has three goals to his name in two pre-season games. But is yet to root himself into the first-team.

Aston Villa and Newcastle United were head to head to seal a deal on Callum. But with the forward keen to join Newcastle, Bournemouth has accepted a £20m bid the star. Steve Bruce is confident that his new signing will bolster their frontline.

Callum has been a great player for the cherries. He was able to net seven times for Bournemouth, but could not save them from relegation. Adding the forward to Newcastle United will bolster their attack. Wilson has a total of 67 goals to his name in 187 appearances for the cherries.

The tally seems impressive and is no wonder Bruce was keen to sign him. With the addition of the young duo, Brewster and Nketiah. Newcastle will have a strong attack for the next season. Gayle will take around 10 to 12 weeks to recover from his injury. So adding the youngsters will cover jis absence until December.
