AC Milan are looking at various options to strengthen their midfield. Italian wants Bakayoko but keeping tabs on back-up from Lille.
AC Milan are finally on the road to recovery. The fallen giants are hoping to turn a new leaf and regain their lost reputation. This has been a good season for the Italian club. The club managed to secure 6th place in Serie A and will return to the Europa League.
AC Milan will try to build upon their momentum and deliver better performances for the next season. The club has tied down Zlatan Ibrahimovic to a one year deal and he will provide leadership from the front.
However, Milan is desperate to make some additions in their midfield. The club has secured the signing of Sandro Tonali on loan with an option to buy in the future. Sandro Tonali is a special player, Andreas Pirlo himself praised the youngster a lot and that is quite something in itself.
But Tonali alone is not enough and Milan knows that. They are looking to add one more midfielder and defender to add some balance to the team. The Italians are looking at Chelsea’s Bakayoko.
Bakayoko had a previous loan stint at Milan in the 2017-18 season. The club are looking to acquire a similar sort of deal for him this time too. There were talks of a loan move for Bakayoko with an option to buy at €35 million.
But Chelsea might prefer to sell Bakayoko instead of a loan move. This is why the Rossoneri are forced to consider other alternatives too, and Lille’s Boubakary Soumare is one of them.
The Rossoneri eyeing Lille’s Boubakary Soumare
Boubakary Soumare is one of the emerging talents in Ligue 1. Soumare is an ex-PSG academy player. PSG do not have the best of policies towards young developing players. Like Kingsley Coman and Moussa Dembele, he has the potential to become a great player.
At just 21 Soumare is already playing exceptionally. He made the move from PSG when he was 17 for first-team football and hasn’t looked back ever since. In this season itself, he has featured in 30 games for the club in all competitions.
“When we saw him at first, we wondered who this player was,” Patrick Collot, a former Lille reserve-team boss, told France Football. “He really exudes calmness and a very high level of technical quality for a midfielder, as well as speed and power. We saw that he was going to reach a high level very quickly.“
Soumare’s impressive performances have earned him interest from some of the top clubs in Europe. Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool have been linked with the player, and now AC Milan has joined too.
According to Le10Sport, AC Milan are interested in signing Soumare. Milan and Lille have good transfer relations from the past. Last year Rafael Leao and Tiago Djalo made their way from Lille to AC Milan and Soumare might follow.
But there are certain problems. Lille’s valuation for Soumare is around €30-40 million. However, considering Milan’s financial situation paying that amount might be a problem and Lille won’t be willing to sanction a loan move for Soumare.
