Mikel Arteta is working on improving the Arsenal team. He has a variety of players to work with but there is no one to fill in the gap left by Mesut Ozil. Arsenal needs a player who can spark creativity in the side.
There have been calls from the Gunners’ fan for an attacking signing. Arsenal has already had 3 players come in, namely Gabriel Magalhaes, Thomas Partey, and Willian.
But the club needs two more signings if they really want to challenge for the top spots in the league. The side still needs a good defender and an attacking midfielder as there aren’t many good players in these positions.
The club was looking at Houssem Aouar of Lyon. Aouar had an impressive campaign and looked just the kind of player Arsenal needed. The Gunners made a bid for him but $45 million was too less of an amount of Lyon.
Lyon was demanding a figure of $55 million+ for his services but it was too much for Arsenal. The club went on and rather triggered the release clause for Thomas Partey. But now Arsenal has set their sights on another young talent.
Dominik Szoboszlai of Salzburg is on the gunners’ radar. Szoboszlai has been very impressive for the club after making his move in 2018. At 20 years old he is just the kind of player Mikel Arteta would want.
Fabrizio Romano says the Gunners are monitoring Dominik Szoboszlai
Since joining Salzburg Szoboszlai has been amazing for the club. He had 12 goals and 18 assists for the club in 40 appearances and he has started this campaign on fire too.
In just 10 games this season he has 5 goals and 7 assists to his name. At the age of just 20 Szoboszlai has the talent to develop into one of the Premier talents in football.
It looks like his performances have caught the eye of Mikel Arteta and Arsenal. On his “Here we go” podcast Romano claims that Arsenal are interested and tracking his progress.
According to the Express, the Gunners’ are looking to submit a bid in the next window. “The situation is that Arsenal [have been] following Szoboszlai [for] years. So, what we [can] say is that Arsenal’s scouting [department] are looking at the player. At the moment, there are no negotiations with [Salzburg].
Dominik was very close to completing a move to AC Milan in the previous window but the deal did not come through. This could work in Arsenal’s favor as Dominik absolutely loves the Premier League.
If Houssem Aouar proves out to be too expensive for the club, Dominik will be a great option. His current value is around $25-30 million and Arsenal could secure a deal in a similar price range. Comparatively, Aouar would be the better option, but Dominik is a very good backup for Arsenal.
