James Maddison had been a major interest for the North London giants.
The English attacking midfielder can be the right option for Mikel Arteta in his midfield next season. The Leicester City player is closely watched by the football scouts of Arsenal and the valuation is still pending for the star.
After spending around ₤75 million in the summer transfer window, Arsenal are planning an affordable option in the midfield department. According to the transfer updates, Maddison will cost around ₤60 million for the Gunners.
But Arsenal will go for negotiations in that case. The 24-year-old got a contract till 2024 with the Foxes. Meanwhile, the manager Brendan Rodgers opened up on the latest talks on James Maddison.
“I know he is very happy here, and he wants to be here. If anything comes to the club, Jon Rudkin (director of football) would tell me straight away and I would deal with it then, but there has been nothing that’s come my way. I’ve not been told anything to say [he won’t stay]. He is happy in training and he is working hard, and he is a talented, important member of the squad,” he said. (Football London)
Leicester City are tracking options for the replacement of Maddison as per the reports. The Manchester United forward, Jesse Lingard, is the possible option for Rogers next season if Maddison switched to Emirates.
Although, the Gunners are expected to offload few options in the summer market in order to make additions. They are also watching the situation of Hector Bellerin. There are rumors about his exit from Emirates this summer.
In that case, Arteta would require to sign a right-back this summer as he planned earlier in the summer window. There were talks on Atletico Madrid player Kieran Trippier in North London this summer.
Two possible signings for Arsenal
According to the transfer updates, Arsenal are monitoring other options along with Maddison because of the delay in the valuation. Manchester City playmaker Bernardo Silva is a hot topic in the transfer window. The Portuguese midfielder already made waves in the summer window by hinting an exit from Etihad.
Meanwhile, the Real Madrid youngster Martin Odegaard is still a possibility for Gunners. The transfer window will run till 31st of August. The Norwegian is under observation in the Spanish capital. Carlo Ancelotti is aware of the talent and transfer would be not that easy for Gunners at this stage.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are planning to add a goalkeeper along with the midfielder this summer. The Sheffield United shot-stopper Aaron Ramsdale is a top priority for them in the search for back-ups of Bernd Leno.
The Gunners are starting the season campaign by playing the newly promoted Brentford FC. Mikel Arteta should find the right squad before the kick-off for next season to make a good start.
Although, he got time till 31st August. After a struggling season, the Gunners can hope for luck with the new recruits in North London. Mikel Arteta’s future also revolves around the season’s outcome in Emirates.
