Arsenal could hijack Atletico move to land Thomas Partey alternative

Arsenal is looking to save funds in order to land the Senegal defensive midfielder before the deadline. The Gunners are plotting to hijack Atletico Madrid’s target amidst Lucas Torriera’s exit from Emirates. Mikel Arteta has been in the market from the start of the transfer window for a defensive midfielder. After Uruguayan defensive midfielder not in the plans of Arteta, he has been planning for some top stars.

Thomas Partey has been the top target for Arsenal in this transfer window. However, his value is out of Arsenal’s spending. The Gunners are also rooting to sign Houssem Aouar from Lyon as well. Both of their recent bids for these players have been politely rejected by respective clubs. Atletico Madrid and Lyon have both politely declined Arsenal’s offer.

Arteta is keen to offload their deadwood this summer to build a new-look Arsenal. In persuasion of that, Arsenal added Matteo Guendouzi in the Aouar deal to Lyon and Lucas Torriera in Thomas’ deal to Atletico Madrid. Both clubs are not ready to accept this deal. Lyon doesn’t want Matteo, who was removed from the squad due to his attitude. Arteta didn’t like the Frenchmen’s attitude and want him out his summer.

The defensive midfielder might join hands with his former head coach, Unai Emery in Spain. Villarreal are also in need of a defensive midfielder and he could be the man that they’re looking for. While, Lucas has been on the radar of Italian clubs, Torino and Fiorentina.

However, Fiorentina chief feels the price tag of a defensive midfielder is too high. Atletico Madrid is ready to accept Lucas, but on a loan move only. Arsenal doesn’t want to loan Torriera this season but to sell him permanently. Atletico Madrid’s new striker Luis Suarez has put in a word to sign his national teammate from Arsenal. However, the Madrid club wants to sign him only on loan.

Perfect alternative to Thomas Partey

Meanwhile, According to L’Equipe, PSG are ready to release their star midfielders Julian Draxler and Idrissa Gueye. Atletico Madrid are reportedly keen to sign the defensive midfielder as a replacement for Thomas. However, Arsenal are not ready to spend that big sum of money on Thomas Partey this summer. With PSG planning to offload the midfielder, both clubs could benefit from this.

Mikel Arteta has been behind Thomas for months to bolster his midfield ahead of the 2020/21 season. But, he couldn’t seal the deal with Madrid adamant to reduce the asking price for their valuable midfielder. While Senegal international might come cheap this summer with the French club forced to sell some players.

The French club is currently suffering from revenue loss and considering that they’re ready to let go of their two-star players. This is a nice opportunity for Arsenal to seal the deal for an experienced player in Premier League. He has been impressive for the Toffees in the past before moving to France. Gueye dispossessed an incredible 3.5 players for every 90 minutes the last term for Paris Saint-German.

He was also regarded as the Premier League’s second top tackler in each of his two seasons with Everton according to FBRef. But, Everton has found their replacement for Gueye’s left position. Ancelotti brought in Alan from Napoli, who has been terrific so far for the Merseyside club. Gunners might need a similar kind of player in their squad this season.

Who is Ibrahim Sangare?

Arsenal has signed a number of successful players from France and they have performed well as well. The Gunners can save funds by signing a young prospect rather than spending a huge amount for Gueye or Thomas. If Arsenal can bargain a deal for Houssem Aouar, they can save some from their outgoing players.

Arsenal can still sign a defensive midfielder with the funds left for a cheaper option. Ibrahim Sangare could be the one, who can be Arsenal’s second choice if they fail to sign Thomas or Gueye. Ibrahim is currently plying his trade for Ligue 2 side, Toulouse. The defensive midfielder is showing good talent in France and could develop only at Arsenal. Although, he is close to joining PSV Eindhoven.

The Ivorian midfielder made 25 appearances for Toulouse in Ligue 1 before his side being relegated to Ligue 2. He managed to find an assist in those 25 league appearances for the French outfit. Mikel Arteta can bring the best out of him at Emirates. However, their prime target is Thomas Partey this summer. Idrissa Gueye can be the best alternative with loads of experience in England with Aston Villa and Everton.
