Arsenal eye January transfer swoop for £40m-rated winger

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing the 24-year-old winger from Championship in the January transfer window. The Gunners are planning to land in reinforcements in January after a slow start to their new campaign.

Arsenal has been lacking creativity in the middle a lot this season, which is also one of the reason for their poor start. Mikel Arteta’s side is currently having one of the worst starts to their Premier League career. The fans are disappointed as well, after an unexpected display from Spaniard’s side.

The Gabon striker Aubameyang isn’t at his best for the Gunners in front of the goal. Arteta’s men have been poor in front of the goal this season. However, the key area for Arteta to focus on at the moment is creativity in the middle of the park. They lack a playmaker, who can create those opportunities upfront.

Arsenal did pursue the French midfielder Houssem Aouar from Lyon, who had a brilliant season last year. The creative midfielder was also one of the reasons behind Lyon’s success in last season’s Champions League. The Frenchmen caught everyone’s attention with his display at the Champions League.

However, Arsenal couldn’t seal the deal for the highly-rated midfielder from France. Now, the club has decided to land a playmaker to provide a strong finish to the season. With players leaving Emirates in January, Arteta will need some strong replacements for the outgoing players.

According to talkSPORT

journalist Alex Crook, Arsenal are interested in signing Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City in the January transfer window. As per the reports, Arsenal might use Reiss Nelson as bait to lure the Argentine winger to Emirates Stadium in January.

The Argentine might soon join Arsenal with Arteta and Edu interested in his services. Arsenal has a number of options for the creating midfielder role. However, Julian Brandt and Emi Buendia are on the top of the lists, who could make a switch to Emirates.

Championship side Norwich City is under no big pressure to sell their star Buendia in the upcoming January transfer window. As per reports, Norwich is expected to demand in the region of £40 million for the player. Meanwhile, Crook claims that talks have already taken place between the London club and the player’s agent.

However, Arsenal does have alternatives for the playmaker role with Real Madrid’s Isco and Paris Saint-Germain’s Julian Draxler. Arteta will need one of these star players to turn around their season with some players departing from their club.

Buendia’s commitment to Norwich

Buendia has seven goals and seven assists in 19 appearances already this season in the Championship. He will be a great addition to Arsenal, who are missing a player of his flavor in the middle of the park. However, the Gunners are yet to make an official approach to sign the Argentine.

The Argentine winger opened up about his transfer rumors linking him with Arsenal to Football London. He said,’ It is true that there was a lot of talk in the summer, after relegation, about the possibility that both I and other team-mates could leave the team to continue in the Premier League.’

‘However, I always had my head in this club. I belong to Norwich City, I have to do things well for my team. Tomorrow we will see, but I never had my head outside the objectives, to work so that my club does well. As this season unfolds, we are doing well and I am very happy to be here. We are in a good position, I am feeling important, I am adding goals and assists for my teammates.’
