Arsenal eyeing a loan move for AC Milan Midfielder this January

Arteta looks to bolster his team depth and may consider a move for Hakan Calhanoglu.

The name that is currently on Arsenal wishlist is of AC Milan Turkish Midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu. Mikel Arteta who took over at Arsenal last month is looking for ways to bolster his squad. The manager sees the Midfielder as one of a potential player who can add depth to his squad.

As per the reports, Arsenal seems interested in signing the player on loan untill the end of the season.

Hakan Calhanoglu wants to ensure a regular game time to secure a place in the summer European championship. Whereas, AC Milan is also interested in offloading the 25-year-old Turkish Midfielder while looking forward to remould their squad this January.

The Turkish midfielder is a regular starter for Milan. The Serie A side have struggled so far this season for their impressive form.  They currently sit eighth in the Serie A table, about 10 points below the Champions League places, though they did win 2-0 at Cagliari on Saturday.

Calhanoglu has made appearance for 18 Serie A matches for Milan in what has been a largely disappointing campaign. He has achieved 47 international caps and 10 goals for Turkey. The Midfielder joined Milan from German club Bayer Leverkusen two years back in the summer.

He began his career with Karlsruher SC in 2010 before moving to the top flight side Hamburger SV in 2013, joining Leverkusen a year later.

The Midfielder is also keen to find his form in the second half of the season, that could be achieved by being in Milan or in London, to win a place in the Turkey squad after they made it to Euro 2020.

Arsenal had a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday and Arteta is pulling up the threads to get the best out of his squad.

Author’s take:

AC Milan are looking forward to offloading Hakan Calhanoglu having a disappointing start to the season. Arteta can secure the loan deal for the Turkish Midfielder by using Ozil as a weapon. Long ago, the player expressed a desire to be equivalent to Ozil in the Turkish national team.
