Arsenal has emerged as one of the top favourites to sign Dimitri Payet from West Ham United.
According to various reports, it is understood that Arsenal has become the favourites to €41million rated French star. In the recent months, Dimitri Payet has been linked with a move away from West Ham United.
Payet joined West Ham United in 2015 and has made an instant impact in the Premier League. He was sensational for the Hammers last season, scoring 12 goals from 38 appearances. The French international was named in the PFA Team of the Year and UEFA Euro 2016 Team of the Tournament.

In the last summer, Payet was a transfer target for various European clubs including Arsenal and Manchester United. But the player opted to stay with the team.
According to the Daily Express, Arsene Wenger’s side are now favourites to sign West Ham wide man Dimitri Payet. It is very much clear that Arsenal will be looking to strengthen the left wing position. Buying a player like Payet would definitely help them fight the title race this season.
West Ham United have been inconsistent this season with the lack of performances from some of their key players. In addition to that, there have been rumours about Payet being unhappy at the London club. But at the same time, he admits that he will stay and fight for his team till the end of the season. So a transfer in January transfer window is highly unlikely to happen.
In an interview with French outlet RMC, Payet has himself claimed that it could be fun to be part of the Gunners team. Payet said “I read that Wenger considers me the missing piece of Arsenal’s game, but he’s never told me that. They’re candidates for the title every year.”
The 29-year-old attacking midfielder further opened up about his situation at the club. “The situation at the club affects me, but I’m an ambitious person,” said Payet.
“I’m in a fight with my club and I’m giving everything for them, to get out of this difficult situation, but I’m not closing the door to anything. If I’m forced to leave West Ham, it will be done according to the rules – the club will have its share of the cake.”
According to Mirror, it is understood that Payet will cost Arsenal a sum above €41million. Payet has made 18 appearances for West ham this season, with 8 assists and scoring three goals.
