The London giants will be back in action on Sunday as they travel to Elland Road this weekend to face Leeds United. However, Arsenal has given some major updates ahead of their Sunday clash with Leeds United. The Gunners have ruled out any possibility of Partey playing for Arsenal against Leeds on Sunday.
The Ghana international has impressed a lot since arriving from Atletico Madrid during the summer transfer window. After Arsenal activated his release clause. However, Partey’s show has taken a halt when the 27-year old sustained an injury during the 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa prior to the international break.
The former Atletico Madrid star was called off during the half time against Aston Villa. After he suffered a thigh injury. Sequentially, Partey missed Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations where they qualify with a 2-0against Sudan at Cape Coast stadium on Thursday.
The former Atletico midfielder is gaining his fitness at Arsenal’s London Colney training center. Moreover, Arsenal has given his health update and stated that Partey will not join the starting line up against Marcelo Bielsa’s men. As he is yet to recover completely.
Although, Mikel Arteta was confident that he would be watching Thomas Partey in action on Sunday. Instead, he will continue his rehabilitation and would be cautiously assessed in London. Moreover, he is expected to make a return in their Europa League clash against Molde next week.
Arsenal given another injury blow
Partey joins the sideline clan of his fellow teammates Mohamed Elneny and Sead Kolasimac. The two of them have contracted the Coronavirus during the international duty with Egypt and Bosnia respectively and have been excluded from Arsenal’s squad.
Even though both the players are asymptomatic. But both are currently following the Covid-19 protocol and are practicing social isolation. This suggests that both the players would miss the Europa League clash against Molde next week
Gabriel Martinelli handed a boost
Mikel Arteta is well aware of the type of squad and tactics they would need against Leeds United. After the astonishing defeat to Villa. Arsenal must raise the standard of their game as Marcelo Bielsa’s newly-promoted side are fairly difficult opponents.
The Gunners, however, handed a player boost. The London giants stated that Gabriel Martinelli is taking part in group sessions and the club is also hopeful that he would soon return to full training sessions over the next two weeks.
Gabriel Martinelli sustained an injury in his left knees during the training session. The injury sidelined him since late June. The talented Brazilian forward has gone through a successful surgery. Arsenal is hopeful that he would return in action prior to the end of 2020.
The Premier League side has confirmed that the forward is involved in doing a daily strengthening and recovery program. Alongside doing running outside their London Colney training ground.
Martinelli himself talked about his recovery at the Arsenal website. He stated that he is feeling really well and is also regaining lost confidence. He also mentioned that after going through a knee injury he was scared to force anything on the knee. Yet the past couple of weeks have been really well and soon he can practice with the ball.
