According to the latest reports, Premier League side Arsenal is reportedly holding talks with Real Madrid over a potential transfer for Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez in the summer transfer window. The Spanish midfielder has been unable to impress the fans and board as he endured a disappointing season last term and the Los Blancos are looking to sell him to generate revenue.
Real Madrid has already splashed around £190 million this summer with their arrivals and is looking to regain some of that money for further business plans in the future. The arrival of Eden Hazard at the Santiago Bernabeu could indicate that one spot in the attacking third will be occupied by the Belgian and other players in that slot may have to exit the Spanish capital for regular football.
Lucas Vazquez is one player who is on the exit door at Real Madrid after falling out of favor with boss Zinedine Zidane. The 28-year-old midfielder managed just 15 starts last season and scored only one goal coming under heavy criticism from the Madrid faithful. Reports claim that the La Liga giants are willing to offload Vazquez for a transfer fee of just £30 million in the transfer window
However, there are still clubs interested in signing the Spanish star and Arsenal is one of the suitors along with Paris Saint Germain, Bayern Munich, and Inter Milan. Of all the clubs mentioned, Arsenal will be the only one playing in the Europa League but Vazquez might decide to make a move to a club where he could actually make a name for himself.
In fact, Arsenal is willing to land Vazquez to the Emirates Stadium as soon as possible and a deal might be negotiated with the Spanish outfit with the transfer to take place by Monday. Real Madrid’s squad leaves for preseason on Tuesday and the Spaniard could not be a part of that traveling team.
Vazquez has been a fringe player at Real Madrid ever since 2015 and has one domestic La Liga title and three Champions League titles to his name. Arsenal, on the other hand, is eager to bolster their squad and will look to make another attacking signing in the form of Vazquez after completing the arrival of 18-year-old Gabriel Martinelli earlier this week.
Unai Emery wants a player who can play on the flanks and Vazquez could be the man to provide that outlet for Arsenal over the next few seasons. However, the issue for the Gunners is that they have a transfer war chest of only £40 million to splash out in the summer for reinforcements.
