It’s the final day of the transfer window and Arsenal goes into the transfer deadline day on the edge of their seats over Alexis Sanchez with Pep Guardiola confident that he can secure his man. The Gunners have somewhat softened their stance on the Chilean forward and thus have given City some encouragement to proceed.
However, according to the Mirror and John Cross Arsenal will not sell Alexis Sanchez unless they have managed to get their hands on PSG’s Julian Draxler. The German international has been on Arsene Wenger’s radar long before he joined PSG from Wolfsburg, in fact, Arsenal was heavily linked to signing the German attacker before he left Schalke.
The Gunners were always linked with a myriad of players, although few made the switch. Julian Draxler was among that list, with rumors going so far as to even say that the German man had come to London to discuss a move. However, now according to L’Equipe, the German attacker has been told that he is no longer needed with PSG bringing in Neymar for an astronomical transfer fee.
Arsenal, on the other hand, want £70 million for Alexis Sanchez, who is in his last year of his contract and they know, they cannot sell the Chilean star unless a bonafide replacement is brought in first. Manager Arsene Wenger has been looking into both Monaco’s Thomas Lemar and Draxler, along with Riyad Mahrez as a backup.
Paris Saint-Germain is ready to offload a few players to help them balance their books, which includes Draxler as they close in on another record breaking move for Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe. The Gunners have already had at least two bids rejected by the Ligue 1 Champions for Thomas Lemar and now with Barcelona in the mix, things look bleak.
However, with Arsenal chase of Thomas Lemar going nowhere, an identical Julian Draxler replica with Monaco adamant to not lose another star, Draxler is the next best thing. Because while Thomas Lemar is still establishing himself as a player, Julian Draxler has already established himself and that’s exactly what Arsenal needs, especially right now. Someone who can make a statement of desire from the Gunners, something Lacazette did on his arrival.
However, all things said the Gunners are dreading the prospect of losing Alexis Sanchez to a direct Premier League rival. But with Pep Guardiola adamant, who has worked with Sanchez during the 2011/12 season and the former Bayern Munich boss has already made it clear to the Manchester City higher ups that he wants the Chilean at the Etihad Stadium. For Arsenal, on the other hand, Julian Draxler would be a great replacement for the Gunners.
